DNA does not double during sexual reproduction ;

i)The gametes involved in the reproduction are always haploid.

ii)In human beings,the sperm will have 23 chromosomes and the egg has 23 chromosomes.

iii)These gametes fuse together to form zygote which has is diploid and will have 46 chromosomes.

The amount of DNA during sexual reproduction does not get doubled because of the following reasons:-

1. The gametes involved in sexual reproduction is haploid , i.e. , it has half number of total chromosomes than that in any other cell.

2. the chromosomes present in male gametes in sperm is 23

3 . The chromosomes   present in female gamete in  one egg is 23.

4. During sexual reproduction when these two gametes combined then  46 chromosomes is formed that is equal to 23 pairs of chromosomes.
