Why the amount of Nitrogen and other gases are similar in both inhaled and exhaled air

It includes oxygen, nitrogen,etc. But the exhaled air is predominantly carbon dioxide because after respiration and oxidation of food carbon dioxide is produced which isexhaled. ... That means the exhaled air now has a higher concentration of carbon dioxide than the air youinhaled.

The proportion of nitrogen gas in inhaled as well as exhaled air remains the same (78%) because nitrogen is neither used up nor produced in respiration.
