Answer :- The abolition of slavery in 1843 in Assam also created a sense of resentment in the minds of a section of people i e. the aristocratic class. Due to the abolition of slavery, the Brahmins and the priests and the nobility had to lose their domestic helps and there had been a shortage of people for performing manual works in the agricultural fields. In the new circumstance, those who had been depending on others for manual service had to perform the same by themselves to eke out their own livelihood. So, there grew strong resentment against the government.
