This happens because there is low acid level in the stomach which get maintained by the intake of food to dissolve the aspirin. So aspirin should not be taken on an empty stomach. Because in empty stomach aspirin is hydrolysed into salicylic acid which produce gastric irritation and even bleeding from stomach walls.
