Insolation reaches the earth's surface in short waves and heat is radiated from the earth in long waves. ... Hence energy leaving the earth's surface i.e. terrestrial radiation heats up the atmosphere more than the incoming solar radiation i.e.insolation.

here is your answer

AT NIGHT THE HEAT ABSORBED BY THE EARTH'S SURFACE IS RADIATED OUT INTO THE ATMOSPHERE IN THE FORM OF LONG WAVE . THIS IS CALLED TERRESTRIAL RADIATION. SINCE THE ATMOSPHERE IS A ABSORBER OF LONG WAVE RADIATION THAT IS WHY EARTH'S SURFACE GETS HEATED BY TERRESTRIAL RADIATION INSTEAD OF INSOLATION.

♤♤ THE ATMOSPHERE GETS HEATED IN THE THE FOLLOWING WAYS:

1. CONDUCTION

2.CONVECTION

3.RADIATION

4. ADVECTION ♤♤♤
