The battle of Plassey can be considered as the official establishment of British Raj in India. For the first time British got control over some Indian province that was Bengal. It is famous because it is a perfect example of how a traitor could demolish strong emperors as well as their empires.
Siraj-ud-Daulah, the nawab of Bengal was betrayed by his own commander Mir Jafar who was bribed by Robert Clive, a British official in east India Company and lost the battle which led to coronation of Mir Jafar as a puppet Nawab controlled by the company.
