why the body of earthworm remains moisten ​

they breathe through their skin. Air dissolved on the mucus of their skin, so they must stay moist to breathe. if worms dry out they suffocate.

    As the earthworms' respiration goes through their skin, they breathe in contact with their skin.

   So the air dissolves with the mucus of their skin and hence, the head area along with the body  gets circulated oxygenated blood.

  They keep their skin moist to take oxygen and give off carbon dioxide in their body.
