The Government of India Act, 1935 was originally passed in August 1935 and is said to be the longest Act (British) of Parliament ever enacted by that time, surpassed only by the Greater London Authority Act 1999 64 years later. Because of its length, the Act was retroactively split by the Government of India Act, 1935
