Buttermilk contains an organic compound called lactic acid. Copper and broze both are capable of reacting with lactic acid. When buttermilk is kept in either of copper or bronze container it undergoes chemical reaction forming toxic salts. This makes the buttermilk unfit for human consumption. People suffer from food poisoning on consuming it.
