why the canal rays depends upon the nature of gas

Based on the voltage applied, the gas gets ionised and form the positive ion and electron. The nature of gas also decides whether the gas molecule can liberate the electron by ionisation. That is why the charge on the positively charged particleconstituting the anode rays depends upon the nature of gas and voltage applied.
