These processes are combinely called as central dogma of life. And it happens in nucleus of a cell. Lets keep it simple. See.. 1st a single cell was formed and the life existed in the form of only a single cell. But then that cell divided itself and gave origin to the multicellular species.

Cell:- Called as structural unit of life because it combines to form a tissue.. and group of tissues combines to form and organ.. group of organs form an organ system and thats how a body is made.

Cell:- Called as functional unit of life because it has its own cell organelles which generates ATPs for our body to function. Eliminates waste from our cell. Carries genetic information. And does much more than that.

Explanation:

Cell is structural and functional unit of life because body of all the organisms is made up of cells. It is functional unit of life because all the functions of body ( physiological, biochemical, genetic and other metabolic functions ) are carried out of cells.

I think this is helpful..
