Heya friend,

Cell membrane or plasma membrane is also called as selectively permeable Membrane. Its made up of fats and proteins and is the outermost layer of animal cell and in plant cell it's present below the cell wall.

Plasma membrane or cell membrane is called selectively permeable membrane because it allows entry of only some substances to enter and some substances to exit , it doesn't allow everything to enter or exit.

Entering and exiting of gases through such a membrane is called diffusion, while entering and exiting of water molecules through such a membrane is called osmosis.

Hope it helps..!!
