Why the climate of polar region different from deserts?

Deserts cover more than one-fifth of the world's land.  A Desert is any region that has less than 2.5 cm (10 inches) of rain or snow  every year. Not all deserts are sandy. The polar regions are also called deserts because they have very little rain or snowfall. The world’s driest desert is the high Atacama plain in Chile. It is a bleak, rocky desert,  which is so dry that virtually no animals or plants can survive there. The Atacama desert has been used by scientists to test robot rovers for exploring planets like Mars

It would be hard to think of two more opposite environments than a desert habitat and a polar habitat. See if you can figure out what you might find in both!
