why the colour change in phenolphthalein and methylorange ?​

methyl orange and fun of thallium used as indicators in acidic solution methyl orange gives red colour but in basic solution it gives yellow colour. in acidic solution phenolphthalein is colourless button basic it gives pink colour they both are used as a pH indicator
