it is due to -: Atmospheric refraction .
During sunrise and sunset, the rays have to travel a larger part of the atmosphere because they are very close to the horizon. Therefore, light other than red is mostly scattered away. Most of the red light, which is the least scattered, enters our eyes. Hence, the sun and the sky appear red .

Morning time near the Horizon, most of the blue light and shorter wavelength are scattered away by the particles. The Light That reaches our eye is of longer wavelength (red) because light from the sun would travel relatively longer distance during morning and evening time. Therrfore the sun appears reddish early in the morning.
