Why the density of solid is higher than that of liquid

a solid has a high density because it's particles are very close together and it's interparticular space is high than that of liquid

Why is the density of solid higher than that of liquid ?
Ans. Density of solid is higher than that of liquid because the particles of solid are usually very close each other but the liquid state of same substance would usually have a less density because of more inter particle space ....In the same volume the solid will have more particles than that of liquid..........
