why the direction of electric current is positive to negative

Because electric current tend to move from a higher potential to a lower potential. it's simple as that

malik2000: It is actually the negative electrons flowing to positive as the positive electrons don't move and the direction of current is opposite to electron flow i.e. from high potential to low potential.
