why the displacement can be negative,positive or zero? plz reply properly with example...............

displacement is a vector quality, it is the shortest distance between between two postions of an object and its direction is from initial to final position of the object.this is unlike distance. so in one dimension, diaplacement can be posiive,negative or zero
