Why the DNA does not get double while sexual reproduction

In sexual reproduction the gametes fuse to form zygote, where the gametes are haploid as they are formed by meiosis. when fusion of two haploid gametes take place the zygote formed becomes diploid.thus the DNA during sexual reproduction do not get doubled
