Why the DNA during sexual reproduction do not get doubled???

The male and the female gametes contain only half the number of chromosomes (23).Thus, during the sexual reproduction, when the male and the female gamete merge, the number becomes the normal number of gametes (46) for an individual. Thus, there is no doubling of DNA in sexual reproduction.

In sexual reproduction the gametes fuse to form zygote, where the gametes are haploid as they are formed by meiosis. when fusion of two haploid gametes take place the zygote formed becomes diploid.thus the DNA during sexual reproduction do not get doubled.
