Still a question that needs research on it.Heart rate hypothesis has not been accepted for the life span of human. It is accepted for other animals in which there is inverse negative correlation between heart rate and life span, means faster the heart rate is, the shorter is life span.

After birth, we grow more slowly that allows us to use our energy better and live longer.
Slower metabolism translates to less oxidative stress, cell replication, telomere clipping and other bad stuff (I am hand waving here) which would in turn lead to longer human life span.
