why the domestic circuit are not used in series arrangements

In our houses, we have many appliances connected to the mains. ALl the appliances and equipment are rated the same 220V/230V potential difference.

So they are all connected in parallel with the main power supply. If they are connected in series then they will not work simultaneously.

series arrangement is not used in domestic circuits because

◾◾ There is voltage division in series circuits. Each component of a series circuit receives a small voltage for a large supply voltage. As a result, the amount of current decreases and the device becomes hot.
