Hawley Crippen was an American doctor who moved to England in 1900 with his wife, Cora Turner. When Cora disappeared in 1910, Crippen said she had returned to the US, and later said that she had died in California.
After just 27 minutes of deliberations, the
jury found Crippen guilty of murder and
he was hanged by John Ellis in
November. Ethel le Neve was acquitted.
Crippen's trial revealed the startlingly
meticulous manner in which he had
disposed of his wife's body.
