why the egg cell is so big and sperm is small as compaired to ovum......?
please ans in brief....

because the egg cell contains food for the process and is non movable whereas sperm is mobile and doesn't contain food

sperm fuses in the ovum and sometimes more than one sperm fuses leading to the formation of twins therefore therefore ovum needs to be bigger so as to provide more area to the zygote to replicate.   Hope it helps!!
