why the elements do not get ionized when they share the electrons

The elements donot get ionized because they are not giving up their electrons or taking electrons . They are just sharing. For eg. Co2

Here carbon shares its two electrones with one oxygen atom and 4 electrons with two oxygen atom.

This does not mean that carbon is gaining any electron. This type of bond is covalent bond. And it is between two non metals.
