The elements of the group 2 of periodic table forms basic(alkaline) hydroxides when they react with water. So they are called as alkaline metals.
And all of them are available in nature(not anyone is synthetic)So they are called as earth metals.
For the above two reasons we call them as alkaline earth metals.
Thanks.

⬇ here's your answer :-

➡basically, the elements of group 2 can react with the alkalis or bases.
➡they have the properties to react with alkalis eg NaOH, Ca(OH)2...etc. and form new products.
➡they are also light metals.
➡they are also found on earth surface , hence the word "earth metals" is used.
➡so, these elements are called alkali earth metals.
