why the first round table conference was called by viceroy irwin ? what were its impliacations ?
Answers
When the civil disobedience movement spread rapidly ; which included :
- Hoisting of Indian flag
- Public meetings
- Independence pledges
- Salt law was broken
All led to a panic situation due to which Viceroy Irwin called for round round table conference which also called as Gandhi-Irwin pact .
They signed a pact after the British released the political leaders who were arrested during Dandi March and gave Right to make salt to commoners .
But still many more conflicts were seen thereafter causing some more round table conferences.

★They were conducted as per the recommendation of Jinnah to Viceroy Lord Irwin and Prime Minister Ramsay MacDonald, and by the report submitted by the Simon Commission in May 1930.
★ Demands for Swaraj, or self-rule, in India had been growing increasingly strong. There were three Round Table Conferences from 1930 to 1932.
The outcomes of the first Round Table Conference were minimal:
➡India was to develop into a federation, safeguards regarding defence and finance were agreed and other departments were to be transferred.
➡However, little was done to implement these recommendations and civil disobedience continued in India.
