In simple words,aluminium displaces iron because it is more reactive.

Explanation

Food containing iron salt should not be placed in aluminium utensils.Aluminium comes before iron in metal activity series so that it can displace iron from it's salts thus defeating the purpose for cooking.Therefore,food containing iron salts should not be placed in aluminium utensils.
