FRICTION mainly refers to the opposition offered by two surfaces when they come in contact with each other.in case of rough surfaces there are many ridges and furrows on the surface.means they are not smooth so they will offer more resistance.that is why we can say that force of friction involved in rough surfaces are greater than in smooth surfaces.
