Why the friction is depend on the nature of surface. Give reason?

Friction depends on the nature of the surface, because where there are more irregularities, which are the hills seen even on a plain surface, the irregularities interlock and form an obstruction to the frictional force. The smoother the surface, the lesser the friction and rougher the surface, the more is the friction.
