Hey mate ,
Cooling the glass allows the formation of a network so that the glass becomes rigid, but not crystalline. However, if glass is cooled too slowly, a large fraction of the −Si−O−Si−O− linkages reform, making the structure more closely resemble that of crystalline silicates, and the product is brittle.
