Glasswares are wrapped in straw or paper because in the event of fall, impact will take a longer time to reach the glassware through straw or paper and hence the force exerted on the glassware is small and chances of its breaking reduce.

Glassware are wrapped in paper or straw before packing to avoid any breakage during transportation.

There are collision between the packed ware due to jèrk experience during transportation.

But the soft packing material slow down their rate of change of momentum.

The force of impact is reduced & items are not broken.
