Why the gravitational force not acts on upwards direction

Gravitational force is always towards the centre of mass of the attracting object....so it shall be downwards from the surface of the earth.

because gravitational force follows the law of attraction towards the centre of the planet or a body. PLEASE MARK AS BRAINLIST.
