hey mate..

here is your answer...

It is a misconception that all cancer patients loose hair. Only cancer patients who undergo chemotherapy will have their head shaved.

Why?

First of all, tumours or cancer cells are fast multiplying cells. They multiply faster than other cells, and spread even faster.

So?

To prevent it from multiplying, doctors will prescribe chemotherapy (a combination of infusions). The chemotherapy will work in such a way that it inhibits cell division (cell growth). That way, tumour cells, will not be able to divide, let alone grow nor spread.

Here comes the plot twist.

However, chemotherapy or also known as cytostatic/cytotoxic does not attack cancerous cells exclusively; healthy cells are being attacked too.

I am getting to the point.

The cells being attacked most frequent, are those dividing and growing rapidly. Eg:- hair, intestinal cells (enterocytes) and etc.

Therefore, Hair loss and vomiting are the main side effects of chemotherapy.

Patients prefer to shave their hair instead, rather than waking up to see lock of hair on the pillow which is rather depressing.

hope it helps..
