The skin on the palms and soles has 5 layer compared to skin elsewhere which has 4 layer .
The extra layer is called the stratum lucidum.
It's is important for giving the yellowish / mocha colour of the palm and soles of the black people and also responsible for the roughness of the palm and soles .
because of the thickness and carotene deposits of the stratum lucidum. the secreted melanin can't really be seen through the stratum corneum .Some ( melanin ) does it make through which is why lightness between the palm and soles various with how dark an individual is .
since the fairer people have less melanin their palm and soles look much paler.
I hope it's help you
