why the image appears larger than the object when it is placed near a shaving mirror

Because rays from a common point on the object are reflected in such a manner that they appear to be coming from behind the mirror, meaning that the image is virtual and cannot be projected.

As with a magnifying glass, the image is upright and larger than the object.

Hope this will help you.

➡️When you look into a concave mirror keeping your face close to the mirror you can see an enlarged and erected image of your face. This will make it easy to shave by seeing hair closely and clearly. This happens because when the object is kept at a distance less than the focal length of the concave mirror the image formed will be virtual, erect and enlarged. The position of the image formed will be behind the mirror, ie we can see it inside the mirror and all other imnages are formed in front of the mirror.
