in the early 18th century the British began to industrialise. as a result it's demand for indigo increased. at the same time, it's branches at West indies and America collapsed. thus they were looking for a new source of indigo.

because europe's climate is not favourable for growing indigo.it was used as a dye and produced good colour. it produces a rich blue colour n d climate in Europe is not favourable to grow indigo. at that time indigo is less expensive for the Europeans.and indigo is used for various purposes.that,is why indigo has a great demand
