1. During summer season, the equatorial low pressure(E.L.P.) belt shift to about 15 degree north due to apparent movement of Sun. The southeast trade winds after crossing the equator become southwest.  

They pickup moisture from Indian Ocean and cause rainfall over Indian subcontinent.  

The location and strength of E.P.L. determine the moisture bearing capacity of monsoon winds.
