Answer: ionization enthalpy of nitrogen is more than oxygen

Explanation: it can be understood in terms of electronic configuration oxygen is 1s²2s²2p⁴ and nitrogen is 1s²2s²2p³ since nitrogen have half filled orbitals (which provide it extra stability) it is difficult to remove electron but in case of oxygen to gain the half filled orbitals stability oxygen loses electron more easily than nitrogen.

Hope it helps....

Answer:

nitrogen has more ionization enthalpy than oxygen

Explanation:

electronic configuration

nitrogen- 1s² 2s² 2p³

oxygen- 1s² 2s² 2p^4

nitrogen has a half filled p orbital which is more stable than configuration of oxygen.

∴ removing an electron from stable configuration means more ionization enthalpy in nitrogen when compared to oxygen
