Why does a Cuckoo lay/keep eggs on a nest of Crows?
Koyal or Koyila or Cuckoo is a vegetarian bird. It does not eat much of insects and worms and is frugivoros. Perhaps that is why it sings so well.
New born baby Cuckoos need a lot of protein to grow well. As Cuckoo itself does not eat non-vegetarian food, it leaves its eggs in the nests of other birds like crows. As the egg shell is thick and strong it does not break when it is dropped from a small height into the nests of other birds. The Cuckoo birds keep shouting or chirping continuously. So the host bird feeds it more thinking that cuckoo baby is still hungry and not yet fed enough.
This is survival instinct and is basically inherent in the jeans of organisms in the nature. This shows that Cuckoo is quite intelligent too. Also Cuckoos are more nature lovers and perhaps have not learnt to take care of their own babies. Evolution did not proceed that way. Poets use this behavior of Koyal or Cuckoo to write in their own imaginative ways.
