why the light always travels in straight line or path

Light has momentum. Light must travel in a straight line for momentum to be conserved. It's valid to look at light as a wave - it's just like a radio wave - and waves travel by self-interference. ... At a boundary like that, the speed of light changes, so the beam changes direction.

→ Diffraction is the effect which causes light to change path when it meets obstacles. But as diffraction effect is very small light travels in straight line.
