This finally culminated into a civil war, with the Tamilians demanding the formation of an independent Tamil state in the northern and eastern parts of Sri Lanka. Thousands of people were killed in the civil war.

Majoritarianism in Srilanka resulted in the civil war because all facilities are provided to majoration people i.e, Singhlese and all works and improvements are done for these majoritarian. Minoratiom people i.e, Tamils were not happy by these activities. So they conflict to the government and Shinglese and it led to a civil war.
