Why the microwave studies are done only in gaseous state?

In gaseous state, atoms have very low force of attraction between them. As a result, they have no restriction in movement and can move about very freely. Because of this freedom of movement, it is comparatively easier to observe the molecules in this state than in solid or liquid state when the microwave is in operational state.
