Because in modern age people needs new technology and for that reason minerals is used in more amount so that's why the modern age is called a mineral age.

modern age is called mineral age.Olden age don't have any minerals as all these minerals are formed at that time due to natural calamities.(ex.. petroleum).These remains took millions of years to form into minerals and are now available for use.we can find many minerals now.hence modern age is called the mineral age
