Why the north pole of the compass needle is towards the east in this figure and not towards the west?? Plz tell me

Well it's not exactly pointing in the east direction.
However, the reason why it's not pointing in the north is because the compass is right now kept in close vicinity of an electric wire carrying electric current which would cause fluctutations in the magnetic field , which would make the needle of the compass to deflect , and so the needle won't point in the north direction as of which it naturally does when it is freely suspended.

asmitayadav: But I want to know why it moved even slightly towards the east and not towards the west whereas when the current flow is reversed it moves slightly towards the west
dhruvsh: this is not true Asmita ! Fluctuations don't occur according to the current direction flow
dhruvsh: it is just instantaneous that the figure shows rhe needle pointing in east, however it could be pointing be west too !
