Nuclei in plant cells are usually pushed to the side by the central vacuole. Vacuole is a gigantic structure - a large vesicle, with relatively smooth (not wrinkled) sides made of a continuous membrane, filled with water that is under pressure most of the time. Vacuole has a lot of osmotically active substances, that cause a net water movement into the vacuole, and the pressure displaces a nucleus.
Vacuole serves as a large storage site - actually a combination of a storage, junkyard, waste dump, and temporary holding place, depending on what is put there.
