why the number of stomata present on the upper surface of a leaf are comparatively less than on the lower surface of a leaf

This is because the upper surface of a leaf is more exposed to the sun as compared to the lower surface. Hence, to trap maximum sunlight, there is more chlorophyll on the upper surface as compared to the lower surface. ... Transpiration is the loss of water from leaves, stems, etc. in the form of water vapor.
Hope it was helpful.

Because in upper surface the rate of transpiration is high on compared to lower surface. Due to this there are more automata in lower surface than upper surface
