why the number of stomata present on upper surface of a leaf are comparatively less than on the lower surface of leaf?

Stomata helps in transpiration along with gaseous exchange. Thus, if there are more stomata on upper leaf surface it will increase the transpiration rate but if the stomata is placed in the lower surface it will be less exposed to sunlight thus there will be less transpiration .Thus, there are more stomata on lower epidermis than on upeer epidermis .
