why the number of stomatas present on upper surface of a leaf are comparatively less than on the lower surface of leaf

Hey.
This was even my doubt a few months ago but let me explain.. actually in the lower part of the leaf the sunlight doesnt reach compared to the upper part and hence it remains in a shaded region so it helps them to reduce transpiration and as you know water is life....
