why the oesophagus/ food pipe is thin in shape whoever will answer correctly by own will mark brainlist

It is thin because if it become broader then there will be no space for other organs to store but now as it is elastic do as food enters in it it becomes broader to move the food bolous easily . this phenomenon is called peristalsis.
